Now that I have figured out how to do photos on here, you guys are going to get sick of me really soon. :)
I hate doing the dishes. Wait..let me amend that. I don't mind "doing" the dishes (washing) or "un-doing" them (cooking)- it is the putting away part I hate. All the kids have a "kitchen job" they they are supposed to do every day (and most days, they do)- ever since she was tall enough to reach all the cabinets, Bunny's has been to put away the dishes.
For years I've heard from all directions (even Bob), "Why don't you have the kids load and run the dishwasher" Finally, I decided, ok. Let's try it. Bunny has unloaded it enough to see how things are supposed to fit, The Prof has rinsed off enough dishes that, working together, they should be able to do it in no time.
I told them what to do (for some reason, they seemed almost excited about it), ran through the instructions on running the dishwasher (which settings and all that)....then I grabbed Dr. Destructo and we went upstairs to fold laundry. Boo was busy scrubbing the paint off the kitchen table. All was well.
I left the room specifically so I Would Not Hover. I was going to let them do this on their own, and if they only fit a handfull of things in there, so be it. I would not hover. Nope...not this time....Ok, so maybe I peeked in a couple of times to make little suggestions on how to "tetris" the load...but that's it. Nope...not hovering.....
A little while later, I peeked downstairs. Dishwasher running nicely. Sinks empty. Cool!
A few minutes later, Dr D and I went to put away the clean, folded kitchen towels........
